Local Property Expertise Meets European Investment Capital

Spain and Portugal offer new opportunities for property financing. Discover how Crowdster aims to connect local developers with European investors through its franchise network.

Crowdster’s European Ambitions – From Scandinavia to Southern Europe

Crowdster was founded with a clear vision: to connect property developers seeking flexible financing with investors looking for attractive real-estate investment opportunities. With operations in Sweden and Denmark, we have established our Scandinavian foundation. Our ambitions extend well beyond the Nordic markets, and we are now preparing for the next stage of our European expansion, with Spain and Portugal as our initial priorities.

Real estate is fundamentally a local business, but investment capital is increasingly international. A developer in Porto faces different market conditions from one in Copenhagen, just as Marbella differs from Stockholm. Understanding local property markets, regulations and financing requirements is essential. Yet investors should not necessarily be limited by national borders when considering property opportunities. This is the principle behind Crowdster's European strategy: combining local property expertise with access to European investment capital.

Spain and Portugal – Markets with Significant Potential

Southern Europe continues to attract considerable international property investment, supported by residential demand, urban development and an active community of property developers. According to CBRE, Spanish real-estate investment reached €16.38 billion during the first nine months of 2026, an increase of 25% compared with the same period in 2025. The Living segment accounted for approximately €5.86 billion, representing 36% of total investment and highlighting the continued importance of residential property in the Spanish market.

For Crowdster, the Costa del Sol is a natural starting point, with Marbella intended as the base for our Spanish activities. The region has developed into an international residential and investment market, attracting developers, buyers and investors from across Europe. Our ambition is to establish a local presence capable of identifying suitable property projects and connecting developers with financing opportunities through Crowdster's European platform.

Portugal represents an equally important part of our long-term strategy. With Porto as our intended operational base, our initial focus will include Porto, Lisbon and the Algarve. These regions offer complementary opportunities, from urban residential development and refurbishment to projects serving international buyers. According to CBRE, Portuguese real-estate investment increased by 17% during 2025, while the market recorded further growth of 6% during the first nine months of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025.

Local Expertise, European Capital

Our expansion strategy is based on developing a network of local franchise operations rather than managing individual property markets exclusively from Scandinavia. Identifying attractive real-estate projects requires people who understand their markets, maintain relationships with developers and can assess opportunities on the ground.

Under this model, local franchise partners will build relationships and identify suitable financing opportunities, while Crowdster provides the central platform, technology, regulatory framework and investor infrastructure. This combines local market knowledge with the advantages of a broader European organisation.

Importantly, Crowdster does not view alternative property financing as a replacement for traditional banks. We see opportunities for complementary financing structures where developers' equity, bank lending and alternative capital work together. Whether financing acquisitions, construction, refurbishment or bridging a temporary funding gap, the objective is to provide financing solutions appropriate to each individual project.

Building a European Network

Our long-term ambition is to create a network where property developers in Portugal can potentially access investors across Europe, just as investors in Sweden or Denmark may discover opportunities in Spain and other European markets. The property remains local, while the potential investor base becomes international.

Expanding into new markets requires careful preparation, the right local partners and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Our focus is therefore on building sustainable local operations rather than simply establishing a presence in as many countries as possible.

With Sweden and Denmark providing our foundation, Spain and Portugal represent the next important steps in Crowdster's development.

Crowdster started in Scandinavia. Our ambition is European – connecting local property opportunities with investment capital across borders.
